Title: What you have to know before you adopt cats

    • The general purpose of the speech was clear. 1
I think the general purpose of her speech was clear. She wanted to let you know what to do before adopting cats.

    • The specific purpose of the speech was clear. 1
She told us about the things you should know before having a cat. There were 3 things. First, cats become sick easily. So you have to take care of them very carefully and continuously. Second, cats are very different from some prejudices. They are not really independent and needs your love. Lastly, you have to keep them until the end of their lives even if they gets ugly and sick.

    • The speech organization supported the speech's specific purpose. 2
She began her presentation by asking the audience some questions like, “Is here anyone who keeps pets?”. And she keeps her speech with an expression, “Animal Companion”. I think it is very nice way to start a presentation and get people’s attention.

    • The main points and supporting material contributed to the speech's specific purpose. 1
She introduced us her own cat in the middle of the presentation. We could see her picture on the screen and she looked so adorable and enough to get our attention. We could understand more easily by listening to the cat’s story.

    • The beginning, body and conclusion reinforced the specific purpose. 2
I think she did a great job in this point. The introduction was very interesting and body was also pretty informative. In the conclusion, she summed up all the things she said in the presentation so it was easy to figure out what the specific purpose was.

    • The speaker achieved the specific purpose. 1
I think so because now I knew what I should do before adopting cats. I got to know more about cats. It is a new fact that i didn’t know before.

    • The speaker appeared confident and sincere, with minimal nervousness. 2
Her voice was loud and clear, easy to understand. But she did not speak with varied intonation often. So it sometimes sounded like she just memorized everything. However, she seemed confident from the beginning till the end, not really nervous.

    • The speaker did not rely on notes throughout the speech. 2
She tried to keep eye contacts constantly but still relied on notes a bit. I think it would be better if her notes are smaller because the size of the script is quite noticeable.

    • What could the speaker have done differently to make the speech more effective? 2
I have almost no complaints about her presentation but if there is one thing, i would say it would be more interesting if she put more visual aids on her slides. (e.g. a video of her own cat)

    • What did you like about the presentation? 2
I think it was quite informative speech. Since all of my parents are allergic to furs, I could not even think about having a “furry” pet at home. But in fact, I would like to have one when i live on my own. Considering the future, it was an essential lecture for me, who want to be a pet owner. There were some prejudices I had before, like “cats are independent” but now i know that it is not true.
